I designed and built a WordPress site for internationally recognized Bay Area artist Jim Melchert. A central figure in the region’s artistic growth, Jim served as Head of Visual Arts at the NEA and as Director of the American Academy in Rome. His work has been exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Oakland Museum of California, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the University Art Museum at UC Berkeley.
To make his vast body of work easier to explore, I organized the site into series-based categories, allowing visitors to trace recurring materials, themes, and conceptual shifts across decades. The design presents his career in a clear, accessible format that honors both his precision and playfulness. Though Jim has since passed away, his estate is now managed by Gallery 16, which has rebuilt the site internally.
