Our Process
Designing a website, no matter how big or small, is an extensive process that can be overwhelming. To better help you understand what to expect during the design and development, here’s our process in 3 steps:
Planning, Layout, Design
A large and time consuming part of designing a website is in the planning and layout stage of the process. We’ll create the sitemap (Page/Menu hierarchy) of the website for approval first, then we will design the home page and a sub page (or more upon request) for approval.
Build & Develop
Once the site layout and design is approved, We’ll move forward with the designing all site pages and implementing all functionality and plugins. We’ll make sure your site looks great and functions nicely across all devices and web browsers before moving to the final step.
Edits & Revisions
Once the site is ready for final review, you’ll be able to review each page and we can make detailed edits until the site is ready for launch. We ask that you please review ALL pages to make sure all spelling, grammar, addresses and information are correct before going live.
About the Founder
Dogtown Creative Studio was founded by Lorene Anderson, a Bay Area artist and designer with deep roots in the visual arts. Her background as a practicing painter shapes the studio’s thoughtful, art-minded approach — balancing creativity, clarity, and usability in every project.
Lorene has been building websites for artists, galleries, and creative businesses for over twenty years, combining an artist’s eye with a designer’s precision. That perspective continues to guide Dogtown Creative’s work today: helping creative people present their ideas beautifully and effectively online.

Why Dogtown?
Dogtown Creative takes its name from the West Oakland neighborhood where this studio began.
The area is a mix of old industrial buildings, small homes, and a thriving community of makers. When Lorene first moved into her warehouse studio space, the area still lived up to its name: packs of stray dogs roamed the streets at night. That history — and the neighborhood’s ongoing spirit of transformation — continues to shape the studio’s work: grounded, adaptive, and built with intention.
And yes — Dogtown Creative does have its own resident dog. Zadie keeps the studio running (when she’s not napping) on schedule, a daily reminder that good work comes with curiosity and a bit of play.
